Tutorial Tuesday #8 | DIY Hair Mask

Getting a hair treatment at the salon can be expensive. While there are hair masks readily sold, you don’t really know what goes in there do you?

Here is a simple hair mask recipe you can make and use.

Things you’ll need

 - an egg (smaller if you have short hair, large egg for long hair)

 - castor oil

 - natural unsweetened yogurt

Optional :

almond oil
essential oils

Step 1 : Break the egg into a bowl and beat it until well combined. Try to keep it from frothing.

Step 2 : Measure out a 3 tablespoons of castor oil and pour it into the egg. (Adjust to fit the length of your hair).

Step 3 : Add 3 tablespoons of the yogurt and add it to the mixture.

Step 4 : Mix until well combined. The yogurt will be separated at first but after a few minutes of mixing it will combine smoothly into the mixture.

Step 5 : Wash your hair in warm/hot water and towel dry

Step 6 : Apply the egg mixture to the damp hair using fingers. Use a glove if you don’t like sticky fingers.

Step 7 : Wrap hair in plastic wrap and a warm towel. Leave on for half and hour to an hour

Step 8 : Rinse out the mask in cold water. DO NOT use hot or warm water as it might cook the eggs that’s in your hair.

Step 9 : Shampoo and condition as normal, and you’re done!

Your hair should feel healthier and more manageable. The protein from the eggs help strengthen your hair while the yogurt and castor oil is good for retaining moisture in your hair cuticles.

This is a versatile recipe so if you feel like your hair could need some other ingredients you can add that in too. The essential oils just help make it smell nicer because let’s face it, raw eggs in your hair for an hour isn’t going to smell very pleasant.

If you give this a try, let me know how it goes!

Tutorial Tuesday #7 | Animal Nails

Gave myself a cute animal manicure last week. Here’s what it looks like :

I simply followed these tutorials and switched some of them up a little.

Little Piggy Nails :

Dog/Puppy Nails :

Cute Bunny Nails :

Penguin Nails :

Hippo Nails :

I hope you have fun trying these. They’re fairly easy to do. Most of them use a dotting tool, which I don’t have. You can always substitute with the back of a small paintbrush or a toothpick.
